The communities of Cebadas, Carboneras, and Santiaguito, in the municipality of Mineral del Chico, are located in a mountainous region where distances and limited transportation options can hinder access to cultural, artistic, educational, and recreational activities. At the same time, these communities possess immense richness: families deeply committed to their children, individuals who share their time and knowledge, a strong sense of community, and an extraordinary natural environment.

We are a group of people from the community who work to raise funds, secure resources, and facilitate opportunities and experiences that the communities themselves consider important;

Our Board of Directors is made up of people who live and participate in the communities, because we believe that community projects should be built with the voices, knowledge, priorities and dreams of those who live there.

What we did in 2025–2026

With the funds raised, we offered the following at Telesecundaria 196 in Carboneras:

-
Guitar and singing lessons at two levels, beginner and intermediate, and we acquired 25 guitars for students, as well as strings, tuners, etc.
-
A mandala art workshop that includes materials.
-
Artistic materials for teachers of Telesecundaria 194 for a workshop on ocoxal, a craft technique that uses the leaves or dried needles of pine trees to create objects, and the making of skulls.
-
A talk for mothers and fathers given by a psychologist and the creation of a mental health series aimed at families with teenagers.
-
The Sound of the Earth Ceramics Workshop.
-
We participate in forest reforestation activities,
-
We support the care of community dogs through vaccination, sterilization, and feeding. Many of these dogs live freely near homes, guarding the surroundings and receiving food from various families. Access to veterinary care is particularly difficult: the nearest veterinary clinic is about 50 minutes away, and there is no public transportation to easily transport the animals.
-

During the 2026–2027 school year, we want to expand our work and reach even more children, youth, and families. To achieve this, we need to raise funds and have the support of people who believe in this project.
Our goals:
-
For Telesecundaria 194, we are seeking to acquire a used sound system for plays, presentations, and events, purchase 10 basketballs and 10 soccer balls, and provide a stipend for the drama teacher. We will continue guitar and singing classes and offer two pottery workshops.
-
To offer the four community preschools, the Carboneras elementary school, and the community courses in Cebadas and Carboneras a series of three 50-minute workshops on reading and literacy, music, and movement. In addition, to create a mobile library of books that encourage reading.
-
Purchase five small guitars, because some of our youngest students need instruments suited to their size.
-
Develop a new mental health series for mothers and fathers, in addition to offering two mental health workshops aimed at teachers and families.
-
To stock the Carboneras library and conduct story reading sessions, bringing books closer to girls and boys who have very few opportunities to access them.
-
Finally, we will continue with our environmental and animal welfare projects. Our goal is to participate in reforestation again, sterilize 10 male and 5 female dogs, and vaccinate 50 community dogs.
Every donation, large or small, helps us turn these projects into real experiences for communities. Your support can put an instrument in a child's hands, a book in front of a new reader, materials in a classroom, a ball on a court, or veterinary care within reach of a dog that otherwise wouldn't have it.
